Go4ward was launched in Ocotber 2008 and is funded by BBC Children in Need, The Gannochy Trust and Strathclyde Police Community Fund. Go4ward supports young people aged 10 – 12 to make the transition from primary to secondary school and from child to teenager as smooth as possible.
Go4ward works closely with primary and secondary schools in Clydebank and delivers weekly sessions during school term focusing on breaking down territorial and sectarian barriers, fostering new friendships, building confidence and developing self-esteem. Go4ward also addresses issues such as anti-social behaviour, drug & alcohol abuse, bullying and peer pressure through various mediums including sports, art, drama and environmental projects.
Go4ward has supported 197 young people since the project started and in the last year have carried out the following activities:
