Every day the young people, we support through our projects, inspire us. Likewise we aim to inspire them! Our goal is to help them lead a successful life, and all our projects and activities are aimed at increasing their self-esteem, changing their attitudes and helping them to reach their potential.
Funded by the Inspiring Scotland 14:19 Fund, our ’Inspiring Scotland’ project is aimed at supporting young people aged between 14 and 19. The project’s main aim is to help them achieve a positive destination on leaving school, whether that is further education, employment or training.
Over the last 2 years, the Inspiring Scotland programme has supported 160 young people and some of their achievements include:
| • |
133 young people completing the ASDAN Certificate of Personal Effectiveness –
a Scottish Qualifications Authority recognised certificate |
| • |
127 young people have achieved a First Aid certificate |
| • |
91 young people have achieved a basic Food Hygiene certificate |
| • |
123 young people have achieved the John Muir Award – an environmental award scheme |
| • |
110 young people participated in vocational ‘taster’ courses in Clydebank College |
| • |
50 young people participated in three 5-day residential events focusing on personal development |
The project is delivered in all West Dunbartonshire secondary schools, supported by each Head Teacher and the great news is that we are currently working with the schools to identify young people who would benefit from this additional support over the next 2 years. |
