The Tullochan Trust works in partnership with local schools, police, community groups and relevant agencies; we offer a wide range of activities, across all our projects, to over 400 often vulnerable 9 - 17year old annually. Our projects are designed to tackle personal development, healthy living, employability, early intervention: they include sport; arts & crafts; music and drama; outdoor education; IT and literacy; homework clubs, issue-based workshops and more.
Go4ward Go4ward is an early intervention project, working in collabration with our Urban Sense project, to encourage Primary 7 pupils to work alongside 1st and 2nd years in a bid to ease this transition.
Heads Up Heads Up is an early intervention education and prevention substance misuse project for 80 disadvantaged 12-13year olds who have been referred to us by their school's pastoral care staff.
The programme offers a holistic approach to personal lifestyle choices; specifically in relation to drug and alcohol misuse and the impact this has on individuals and communities. The purpose of the project is to develop young people's confidence and self esteem; social, personal and employability skills and give them a range of coping strategies which would allow them to deal appropriately with difficult situations.
The Heads Up programme includes a series of outdoor activities that challenge and stretch the youngsters by taking them out of their comfort zones, which in turn, allows the pupils to develop and gain increased confidence and self esteem. The project also provides the opportunity to take part in a 12 week 'taster' course at Clydebank College giving an insight into the various courses available, as well as some hands on experience. This complements the Progression Awards scheme run in schools where pupils who are not academic high fliers get an early introduction to the world of further education.
Network Youth The Network Youth project aims to make a positive impact on the lives of 180 young people aged 11 - 16.
The project encourages young people to reach their full potential, promotes teamwork and develops leadership skills. Network Youth also strives to increase awareness of environmental issues, promotes healthy living and provides the young people with a sense of community spirit and respect for their environment. The programme is open to all pupils in 1st, 2nd and 3rd year with the main focus on 1st and 2nd year, enabling Tullochan to support their transition from primary to secondary school.
The project covers many topics from personal safety to personal development. Some of the other opportunities available allow the young people to become involved in junior award schemes, residential, outdoor education, sport, issue based workshops, community initiatives, IT workshops, music, art and performance. Lunch time school support sessions are an integral part of the project and enable us to maintain weekly contact with new and existing young people.
Inspiring Scotland Future Choices will work in partnership with Schools and Colleges to offer a 2year personal development and support programme to 180 S3/S4pupils, using ASDAN and College Vocational Courses, to provide a holistic approach which raises aspiration, motivation, confidence, knowledge and skills. Some of the personal development programme includes week long residentials, Club Nights, school drop in sessions, career workshops plus various activities throughout the school term.
Urban Sense Urban Sense provides weekly club nights with activities including career presentations, drug and alcohol education, workshops on gang behaviour, graffiti art, music sessions, Hip Hop dancing and arts & crafts. The project staff also run lunchtime support sessions in each school within Clydebank offering young people the opportunity to come and chat to staff about any issues.
The overall aim of Urban Sense is to have a positive impact on 60 young people from Clydebank by encouraging young people to work on their confidence and self-esteem as well as raising the awareness and understanding of the value of education.
