Tullochan has delivered programmes in all five secondary schools across West Dunbartonshire for a number of years supporting young people to remain engaged in their education. In the 2017/18 school year we are working with S1-S3 and senior phase pupils at Vale of Leven Academy. We are an SQA approved centre and have consistently delivered qualifications and programmes that match the needs of young people we support. In the 2016/17 school year we supported young people to successfully achieve over 250 full SQA awards. The success of our programmes is also illustrated by the number of young people who choose to continue engaging with us in our weekly after school club.
FEEDBACK: Secondary Schools
“The way she is in Tullochan is the way I would like to see her in other classes, being more confident”
“I know from experience the work that Tullochan does can change people’s lives and love the fact he has someone he can talk to and learn these things from”
“He doesn’t have a strong positive male role model at home, so it’s good to spend time with people where he can learn responsibility”
“Tullochan is a long-standing and major partner of Vale of Leven Academy, providing group work for pupils who need extra support at every stage from S1 to S5/6. Sessions run throughout the school year focusing on a wide range of skills for learning, life and work. SQA and other awards help to motivate pupils, while Tullochan staff build a strong rapport with pupils boosting their confidence and social skills. Tullochan staff play a full part in the school’s Joint Agency Team and work closely with pupil support staff. Their work is often a key element in a pupil’s support plan. Tullochan staff keep parents up-to-date and regularly attend parents’ meetings. Some pupils now progress in the latter stages of their school career to Tullochan’s Employability programme. For many of our pupils who need extra support, Tullochan group work provides an enjoyable, supportive and effective intervention, leading to increased engagement and better outcomes. We value their work very highly.”
